Cricket's Three Formats and Favourite Tournaments

T20

The fastest format — 20 overs per side. BPL and IPL are played in this format, making it the most popular among Bangladeshi fans. Matches finish quickly, so in-play betting odds change fast.

ODI

In a fifty-over ODI, both innings give each side an equal chance. ICC World Cup matches and Bangladesh Tigers bilateral series are mainly played in this format. Mid-match markets offer more variety here.

Test

The longest format — five days — where cricket's deepest strategy is on display. Beyond Match Winner, you can bet on Innings Runs, Century Scorer or a Draw.

BPL and IPL

BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) is Bangladesh's biggest T20 league. IPL and the T20 World Cup feature top-level competition. At jeetbuz, betting markets are available for nearly every match in these tournaments.

Betting on Football and Other Sports

Alongside cricket, you can also bet on football at jeetbuz. A football match runs for 90 minutes and a draw is a separate outcome, so bets are placed in a 1X2 format with three options — whereas limited-overs cricket has no draw.

In football, common markets include Goal Scorer, Number of Corners and Handicap; in cricket, you more often see Wickets, Run Rate or Powerplay Score markets. Betting works differently across the two sports, but the basic principle is the same — the outcome of an event cannot be known in advance, so betting is purely for entertainment.

If you want to combine bets from multiple matches on one ticket, check out the Multi Bet feature — detailed examples are provided there.

Popular Betting Markets and Brief Examples

Match Winner

Pick which of the two teams will win. Example: Team A vs Team B — if you select Team B and Team B wins, your bet is successful.

Toss

Which team will win the toss before the match starts — a market unique to cricket. The result is entirely independent of the match outcome.

Top Batsman

You can pick which batter from a given team will score the most runs in an innings or across the whole match.

Total Runs (Over/Under)

Whether the total runs scored will be more (Over) or fewer (Under) than a set number — the line is given before the match starts.

Powerplay Score

How many runs will be scored in the first Powerplay overs of a T20 or ODI — this market changes quickly in-play.

Multi Bet

Combining selections from multiple matches on one ticket gives higher combined odds, but all selections must be correct to win. See the Multi Bet page for more details.

How Odds Are Written and Read

Odds on betting sites appear in three different formats — Decimal, Fractional and American. All three express the same information in different ways.

Format Team A (Example 1) Team B (Example 2)
Decimal 2.50 1.80
Fractional 3/2 4/5
American +150 -125

Example 1 (market on Team A winning): With a ৳500 bet — Decimal 2.50 means a total return of ৳1,250 (৳750 profit + ৳500 stake); if you lose, ৳500 is gone.

Example 2 (Team B as favourite): Decimal 1.80 means a total return of ৳900 on a ৳500 bet (৳400 profit). American -125 means you need to bet ৳125 to make ৳100 profit — negative odds always indicate the favourite.

Odds Change the Moment a Wicket Falls — In-Play Betting

In-play betting lets you place bets while the match is in progress. In cricket, every wicket, every maiden over or a burst of quick runs changes the odds immediately. For example, if Team A starts strongly, Team B's odds for winning can suddenly increase.

Impact of a Wicket When a key batter from the batting side is dismissed, the odds on that team winning drop straight away.

Changes After Each Over Bowling and batting averages are updated after every over, so the line on Over/Under markets shifts accordingly.

Quick Decisions In-play market odds can close quickly, so fast access on mobile is important. You can place bets on the go with the jeetbuz app.

Cash Out In some markets there may be an option to close your bet before the match ends — a way to lock in a partial profit or limit a loss.

Important Things to Know Before You Start Betting

Cricket betting is for entertainment — it is not a guaranteed way to make money. Keeping the following points in mind will make the experience better.

01

Set a budget. Decide on a fixed amount before you start betting. Do not go beyond that limit, no matter how big the match.

02

Get to know one format well. T20, ODI and Test each have different pace and markets. Focusing on one format at the start makes it easier to understand the markets.

03

Read the odds carefully. Decimal odds show your total return directly — work out for yourself how much you will get back before placing a bet. The two examples in the Odds section will help.

04

Avoid rushing in live betting. Odds change fast in in-play betting. Make decisions with a clear head — placing a large bet on impulse can backfire.

05

Play responsibly. If betting starts to feel stressful rather than enjoyable, take a break. jeetbuz's Responsible Gaming page explains how to set limits.

Cricket Betting FAQ

Yes. Beyond BPL, IPL, T20 World Cup, ICC events and various bilateral series run all year round. There is almost always an active series on the international calendar.

Test matches typically offer Match Winner (where a draw is also an option), Innings Runs, Top Batsman, Top Bowler and day-specific run markets. In-play markets are also more varied in a five-day match.

Once a bet is confirmed, it generally cannot be changed. However, in markets where cash out is available, you can close the bet while the match is in progress. You can also place new bets in in-play markets.

If a match is completely cancelled or ends with no result, bets are usually voided and the original stake is returned. If the result is determined by the Duckworth-Lewis method, that is treated as the official result. The rules for each market are detailed in the Terms and Conditions.

In T20, momentum shifts quickly, so odds fluctuate more — especially in-play. ODI matches have more overs, so odds move a bit more slowly. The price for the same team can therefore differ between the two formats.
